Setting Up Your Artist Profile

Your artist profile is your digital identity across streaming platforms. This guide will help you create a compelling and professional artist profile that represents your brand effectively.

Why Your Artist Profile Matters

A complete and professional artist profile:

  • Helps fans discover and connect with your music
  • Establishes your brand identity
  • Improves your visibility on streaming platforms
  • Provides essential information to listeners and industry professionals
  • Creates consistency across all platforms where your music appears

  1. Log in to your Dismusic account
  2. Navigate to the "Settings" section in your dashboard
  3. Select "Artist Profile" from the menu
  4. Click "Edit Profile" to begin

Essential Profile Elements

Artist Name

Your artist name is how fans will find you. Consider these tips:

  • Use consistent spelling and formatting across all platforms
  • Avoid special characters that may cause issues on some platforms
  • If you're changing your artist name, be aware this will require updating all your releases

Profile Photo

Your profile photo requirements:

  • High-resolution image (minimum 1500x1500 pixels)
  • JPG or PNG format
  • Clear, professional, and representative of your brand
  • Avoid text overlays or logos in your main profile image

Biography

Your artist biography should:

  • Be written in third person
  • Include your musical style, influences, and achievements
  • Mention your location and when you started making music
  • Highlight what makes you unique as an artist
  • Be between 300-500 words for optimal length

We recommend creating both a short (1-2 sentences) and long version of your bio.

Social Media Links

Connect your social media accounts to your profile:

  • Instagram
  • Twitter/X
  • Facebook
  • TikTok
  • YouTube
  • SoundCloud
  • Personal website

Only add accounts that you actively maintain and that are specifically for your music.

Genre Classification

Select up to three genres that best represent your music. This helps streaming platforms categorize your music and recommend it to the right listeners.

Advanced Profile Features

Artist Playlist Links

Add links to playlists you've created or that feature your music prominently. This helps fans discover more of your content.

Press Kit

Upload press photos, logos, and promotional materials that media outlets can use when featuring your music. Include:

  • High-resolution press photos (at least 3 different options)
  • Your logo in vector format (if applicable)
  • One-sheet with key information about your latest release

Upcoming Shows

If you perform live, add your upcoming shows to your profile. This information will be shared with streaming platforms that support concert listings.

Different streaming platforms display artist information in different ways. Here's how to optimize for major platforms:

  • Refresh your profile photo periodically, especially with new releases
  • Keep your social media links current
  • Review your genre classifications as your sound evolves

Profile Verification

Once you've established a presence on streaming platforms, you may be eligible for profile verification:

  • Spotify: Blue checkmark verification is automatically granted to artists who meet certain criteria
  • Apple Music: Verification is handled through Apple Music for Artists
  • Other platforms: Each has its own verification process

Dismusic will notify you when you become eligible for verification on major platforms.

Common Profile Mistakes to Avoid

  • Inconsistent artist name spelling across platforms
  • Low-quality or unprofessional profile images
  • Outdated biography information
  • Missing or broken social media links
  • Inaccurate genre classification
  • Overly promotional or poorly written biography
