Understanding Release Statuses

When you submit a release through Dismusic, it goes through several stages before reaching streaming platforms. Understanding these statuses will help you track your release's progress and know what to expect at each stage.

Release Status Overview

Your release will progress through the following statuses in the Dismusic dashboard:

  • Draft - Release is saved but not yet submitted
  • Submitted - Release has been submitted and is awaiting review
  • In Review - Our team is reviewing your release
  • Approved - Release has passed review and is being prepared for delivery
  • Delivered - Release has been sent to streaming platforms
  • Live - Release is available on streaming platforms
  • Rejected - Release has been rejected and requires changes
  • Takedown Requested - A takedown has been requested for this release
  • Removed - Release has been removed from all platforms

Detailed Status Explanations

Draft

When you start creating a release but haven't submitted it yet, it's saved as a draft. You can return to it later to complete the submission process. Drafts are only visible to you and aren't sent to our review team until you submit them.

What you can do: Edit any aspect of the release, add or remove tracks, change artwork, etc.

Submitted

After you submit your release, it enters the "Submitted" status. This means your release is in our queue for review. The typical wait time at this stage is 1-2 business days.

What you can do: You can still cancel the submission at this stage if you notice any errors.

In Review

When our team begins reviewing your release, the status changes to "In Review." Our quality control team checks for:

  • Audio quality issues
  • Metadata accuracy and completeness
  • Artwork compliance with platform requirements
  • Copyright and licensing concerns

What you can do: Monitor your email for any questions from our review team. Limited changes can be requested at this stage.

Approved

Once your release passes our quality checks, it's marked as "Approved." This means it meets all requirements and is being prepared for delivery to streaming platforms. At this stage, we're formatting your release according to each platform's specifications.

What you can do: No changes can be made at this point without requesting a cancellation, which may incur fees.

Delivered

The "Delivered" status means your release has been sent to all selected streaming platforms. Each platform now has its own review process, which typically takes:

  • Spotify: 3-5 business days
  • Apple Music: 3-7 business days
  • Amazon Music: 3-7 business days
  • Other platforms: 5-10 business days

What you can do: Wait for platforms to process your release. You can check the "Platform Status" section in your release details to see which platforms have received and processed your release.

Live

When your music is available on streaming platforms, the status changes to "Live." This means listeners can stream, download, and add your music to their playlists. Not all platforms may go live simultaneously—some may take longer than others.

What you can do: Start promoting your release! You can now access streaming links, create pre-save campaigns, and view analytics as they become available.

Rejected

If your release doesn't meet our quality standards or platform requirements, it may be rejected. Common reasons for rejection include:

  • Poor audio quality or technical issues
  • Artwork that doesn't meet specifications
  • Incomplete or inaccurate metadata
  • Copyright concerns or potential infringement
  • Explicit content not properly labeled

What you can do: Review the rejection reason provided in your dashboard and email. Make the necessary changes and resubmit your release.

Takedown Requested

If you've requested to remove your release from streaming platforms, it will show as "Takedown Requested." This status indicates that we've received your takedown request and are processing it.

What you can do: Wait for the takedown process to complete. This typically takes 5-10 business days, depending on the platforms.

Removed

The "Removed" status means your release has been successfully taken down from all streaming platforms. It may still appear in search results or playlists temporarily as platforms update their catalogs.

What you can do: If you plan to re-release the music with changes, you can create a new release in your dashboard.

Platform-Specific Statuses

Within each release, you can also view platform-specific statuses that show where your music stands on each individual streaming service:

  • Pending - Release has been sent to the platform but not yet processed
  • Processing - Platform is reviewing the release
  • Live - Release is available on this platform
  • Rejected - Platform has rejected the release (with specific reason)
  • Takedown Pending - Takedown request has been sent to the platform
  • Removed - Release has been removed from this platform

Troubleshooting Common Status Issues

Release Stuck in "Submitted" Status

If your release has been in "Submitted" status for more than 2 business days, contact our support team. There may be a high volume of submissions or a technical issue with your release.

Some Platforms Show "Live" While Others Don't

This is normal. Different platforms have different processing times. If some platforms are still not showing as live after 10 business days, contact our support team.

Release Rejected by Specific Platforms

Some platforms have stricter requirements than others. If your release is rejected by specific platforms, review the platform-specific feedback in your dashboard and make the necessary adjustments.

Dismusic sends email notifications when your release status changes. To ensure you receive these notifications:

  • Add support@dismusic.com to your email contacts
  • Check your spam folder regularly

You can also customize your notification preferences in the "Settings" section of your dashboard.
